PhD Student Spotlight: Keshia Pitt ‘23

Today, we’re highlighting Keshia Pitt, a May PhD candidate in the Molecular and Translational Medicine program through the Program in Biomedical Sciences (PiBS). Keshia’s dissertation, which she successfully defended in March 2023, studied the effect of the p63 gene on the acceleration of epithelial cancer. During her time at BU, she has worked under Associate Professor of Molecular & Cell Biology Makoto Senoo and Clinical Assistant Professor of Molecular & Cell Biology Yoshiyuki Mochida, PhD, DDS. MS Student Spotlight: Khoa Duong (HPE ‘23)

Khoa Duong is a student in the Masters in Health Professions Education program at Graduate Medical Sciences. A pulmonary doctor and medical teacher from Vietnam, Duong was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in the United States. Khoa attended medical school at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and received a master’s degree in public health from the Universite Paris Sud. GMS Program in Biomedical Sciences Hosts Second-Annual PiBS Accepted Applicant Visit Day

The Program in Biomedical Sciences (PiBS) hosted its second-annual Accepted Applicant Visit Day on Friday, March 17. The day-long event introduced accepted program applicants to the wide array of academic and scholarly programming, research and professional development opportunities and campus resources offered by PiBS, the Medical Campus and the wider Boston University community. Event attendees from across the country began their day by meeting their fellow accepted applicants over breakfast. Second-year BU GSDM Student Talks Work & Life Balance with OHS Students

The Oral Health Sciences peer-mentoring program, DentMent, invited Elias Hilaire to speak with the current cohort about work-life balance on Thursday, March 16. Hilaire is a second-year student at Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. Originally from Baltimore, MD, Hilaire graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park. He then completed a post-baccalaureate program through GeorgeSquared, a collaborative pre-health program between George Mason University and Georgetown University. Hilaire is also a vlogger, known as "Student Doctor Eli" on YouTube. Brown, PhD, on Wednesday, March 29 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in L-311.
