FAQ
What type of imaging modalities are covered in the program?
The bioimaging program primarily focuses on the applications and principles of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to equip the student with the proper knowledge to sit for the MRI ARRT exam. We also provide general principles, uses for, and technical specification for other imaging modalities such as CT, PET, and SPECT, however, the primary focus of the program is MRI.
What is the expected duration for completing the imaging program?
The completion time for the imaging program varies depending on whether a student is enrolled as part-time or full-time. For part-time students, the program typically takes approximately 2 years to complete. On the other hand, full-time students can expect to complete the program in the duration of 1 year. The choice between part-time and full-time enrollment allows students to tailor their academic journey according to their scheduling preferences and commitments.
Are there any prerequisites for the Bioimaging Program?
What is the mode of instruction for the imaging program? Are classes conducted in person or remotely?
Our courses are in-person and offered adjacent to the bioimaging research facility. All lectures are recorded and made available for students after the lecture is completed in adherence to BU policy.
Are there any scholarships or financial aid options available for the program?

What career opportunities are available for graduates of the program?
Graduates of the Bioimaging Program have a wide range of career prospects in industries such as medical imaging, scientific research, aerospace, and multimedia. Graduated students can pursue roles such as MRI techs, imaging scientists, research analysts, image processing engineers just to name a few. Some current available opportunities are listed in the “Graduate Outcomes” section.
Can international students apply to the bioimaging program?
Yes, international students are encouraged to apply for the Bioimaging Program at Boston University. International applicants must follow the same admission process as domestic students and provide the necessary documentation to meet visa requirements.
