Recent Presentations:

Dr. Anthony Abruzzese of the HEM Program recently presented Challenges of Assessing Community Disaster Resilience
in a Pre-disaster Context based on his dissertation research at the 11th Annual Homeland Defense/Security Education Summit, 2018.  The annual conference is sponsored by Center for Homeland Defense and Security (CHDS), in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA’s National Preparedness Directorate. This year’s theme was an examination of wicked problems in homeland security and emergency management. Wicked problems are those problems that are difficult or impossible to solve because of incomplete, contradictory, and constantly changing properties.

This year’s summit was hosted by the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security & Cybersecurity, at the University at Albany (NY).
