Configuring Apple Mac Mail For Exchange
Microsoft Entourage for the Mac is our preferred client for getting our Outlook/Exchange e-mail. Please consider using Entourage, it is part of the Microsoft Office Suite for the Mac. Please visit http://www.bumc.bu.edu/bumc-oit/email/msentourage/ for directions.
Open Mail, if you do not have an account currently setup on Mail, you will get the following screen.
If you are adding an account, open Mail then click Mail on the toolbar, then click Accounts, and click on the plus sign + in the lower left corner of the screen.
For account type select Exchange and fill out the screen as shown below, replacing jdoe@bu.edu with your own information and click Continue.
Enter in the information below, including your User Name and Password, then click Continue.
The Outgoing Mail Server may automatically add a colon and your username to the end of it. Delete everything after edu. (Please reference next two pictures)
Add your information and click Continue.
If you get an error for the outgoing mail server, try using acs-smtp.bu.edu instead with your BU username & Kerberos password using SSL if presented with the option.
You will see the Account Summary screen, please verify that your e-mail address and username are correct. Also, verify that the server address is xmail.bumc.bu.edu and click Continue.
Congratulations! You have now configured Mac Mail for the BUMC Exchange Server.
