Position Title/Description: GMS Registrar Assistant
Location: On-Campus, L-309 | Department: Graduate Medical Sciences | Semester: Spring 2024
Job Details: This role will provide support to the GMS Registrar in the areas of registration and student enrollment.
Responsibilities: Assist the Registrar with electronic filing, scanning, and other administrative tasks related to applications, courses, and transcripts.
Recommended Skills: Familiar with Adobe Pro (can be trained), basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Work Schedule: 5-10 hours/week.

Position Title/Description: GMS Office Assistant
Semester: Fall 2024| Location: On-Campus | Department: Graduate Medical Sciences
Job Details: This role will primarily share time between support of GMS faculty & staff in the areas of reception, student affairs and administrative support.
Responsibilities: Support Graduate Medical Sciences administration, and the Assistant Deans, on projects related to graduate affairs (orientation, admissions, enrollment, alumni tracking), including administrative tasks and greeting guests at the GMS office suite. Will support and direct visitors as needed, receiving and distributing GMS mail, and managing locker distribution.
Recommended Skills: Attention to detail, strong writing and communication skills, ability to complete time-sensitive projects quickly and independently, proficiency Microsoft Office Suite and manipulating data in Microsoft Excel a plus.

Job Details: This role will primarily support the STaRS program to increase diversity in the research biomedical sciences.
Responsibilities: Support Program Director Dr. Isabel Dominguez with administrative tasks for the STaRS program, including tasks for the program’s undergraduate research students.
Recommended Skills: Attention to detail, strong communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Microsoft Excel. Good interpersonal skills and past experience working with students from diverse backgrounds a plus.

Post-Doc Positions and Fellowships
Open post-doctoral position at the Boston College Department of Biology: The Altindis Lab is currently seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow for a translational research project that focuses on studying the role of viral insulins in the insulin/IGF-1 signaling system, growth, and cancer progression. The Altindis Lab at the Boston College Biology Department received its first NIH R01 grant and the postdoc will be supported with this mechanism. Learn more here.
Teaching Assistants
TA positions in Graduate Medical Sciences are generally reserved for second-year students or above and are hired directly by the academic department or faculty. GMS does not typically offer teaching assistant positions to entering graduate students. These positions pay a small stipend. Interested students should contact their academic department directly to inquire about available opportunities. These are usually available in the late summer/fall each year.
Program-Based Tutors
Program-Based Tutors are used in many programs include Oral Health Sciences, Medical Sciences, Nutrition & Metabolism and Biomedical Research Technologies. These positions are filled primarily by second year students of the program. Please reach out to your program director if interested in serving as a tutor.

Residential Life Positions
Each year, Resident Life Positions Residential Life hires resident assistants (RA) and senior resident assistants (SRA) to play a unique role in guiding, encouraging, directing, and helping other students as they learn and test new ideas, seek satisfying career choices, clarify their personal and societal values, and become contributing members of the larger community. Individuals hired for these positions are part-time staff members in the Residential Life office and are responsible for actively working twenty hours each week. Job Details: This role will primarily operate to assist the GMS Marketing Team with responsibilities that fall under the scope of ‘communicating with current GMS Community members.’
Responsibilities: The primary responsibility for this role will be managing the GMS Press weekly newsletter via Mailchimp. The intern will also assist with dialing social media postings as well as other GMS-wide communications.
Recommended Skills: The ideal candidate for this role has experience using services such as Mailchimp or similar email marketing platforms, google drive and Microsoft Office Suite, is organized, has a strong command of the English language, and has strong attention-to-detail skills.
