Congratulations to Dr. Hassan Mahmoud, MD, who recently graduated from Boston University and Boston Medical Center’s Nephrology Fellowship Training Program! Before moving to Boston to become a BMC fellow, Hassan called a few places home, including Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Maine. Through luck in life, he found himself joining the medical field, and was eventually drawn to BMC after wanting a change in scenery from Maine (“AKA ‘Mooseland,’ per Dr. Francis”). Within the fellowship program, Hassan’s favorite aspect has been the people involved, and he gives special thanks to Program Director Dr. Ashish Upadhyay “for being an awesome program director and a great clinic mentor.” Hassan’s proudest accomplishments from fellowship have been the friendships he’s cultivated with his co-fellows and attendings. Outside of work, Hassan enjoys soccer, travel, and more (“Anything, but NOT skiing! Never, ever again, thanks to Aileen!”). He also appreciates watching sunsets over the Charles River in Boston, and a good Nephrology joke (“Why did you miss dialysis? My feet were too big to fit in my shoes!”). After fellowship, Dr. Mahmoud will be returning to “Mooseland” Maine to work as a Nephrologist.
