Summer Undergraduate Research Program Begins May 31st
GMS welcomes students in the Summer Undergraduate Research Program. This is a rigorous ten week summer program for undergraduate students interested in achieving a Ph.D. in biomedical research, especially those students from groups underrepresented in the biomedical sciences. The program starts May 31, 2011 and will continue through August 5, 2011.
Russek Day: Student Achievement Day
Held from 9am-5pm on May 27 in Hiebert Lounge. On this day we honor our graduate students by hearing about their exciting research efforts in a poster session and share their excitement as they congratulate their friends after winning the coveted Achievement Award. We also share our ideas with a scientific luminary that serves as a Visiting Professor for the student award winners. Thesis Deadline Thursday 4/7/11 before 3pm
All students planning on graduating in May 2011 must submit 2 copies of their final thesis by 3pm Thursday 4/7. Please check for additional requirements with your program or department. All students must have the thesis format reviewed by the registrar, Millie Agosto before submission. If all courses and paperwork are not completed, the thesis cannot be format reviewed.
GMS Doctoral Student Nadia Krasner Selected for 2011 ASN Predoctoral Fellowship
Nadia Krasner, a PhD student in the Graduate Program in Medical Nutrition Sciences, has been selected to receive a $5,000 fellowship through the American Society of Nutrition. The award recognizes Ms. Krasner’s excellence in her proposed project Does GLP-1 Mediated Activation of AMPK have an Anti-Inflammatory Effect in Vascular Endothelium.
