News to Know

BU Expects to Receive 24-25 FAFSA Starting Mid-March

FAFSA filers were recently notified by the Department of Education that 2024-2025 FAFSA data would be sent to schools starting in mid-March with submitted records being sent throughout March & April. You can check your FAFSA status on MyBU Student as we expect to start receiving completed FAFSAs in the coming weeks.

Not sure if you’ve filed already? Log in to studentaid.gov to check your account activity for completed applications.


Loan Exit Counseling Requirement

Graduating Federal student loan borrowers are required to complete Federal Student Loan Exit Counseling. This can be done electronically at StudentAid.gov. If you have questions join us virtually in April to talk loan repayment strategies.

If you have institutional loans you will receive a separate email from SFS with steps to complete BU loan exit counseling.

Looking for on-campus housing*? Graduate Housing application available in March

Looking to live in Fenway Campus or Charles River Campus graduate housing? Keep an eye out for BU Housing’s graduate application opening in mid-March. Housing selection is first-come, first-serve and very limited so do not delay! *medical students can contact Student Affairs for MSR housing questions.

AccessLex Financial Education Resources

AccessLex is a non-profit that offers free financial education resources to help students and recent grads manage their finances and loan repayment. Their webinar, The Road to Zero: A Strategic Approach to Student Loan Repayment, provides all the info needed to feel confident about loan repayment. You can also set up free 1:1 meetings with their Accredited Financial Counselors to discuss your specific financial situation and goals.

AAMC First Tools & Webinars for Medical Students

AAMC offers events created specifically to provide medical students with financial resources for your time during and after medical school.

This month’s webinar, Learn About Our Resident Section of the “Guide to Money Management and Student Loans”, will review AAMC’s Student Loan guide and how to succeed financially while in residency. The webinar is at 2 PM EST on January 26. Register for the webinar here.
