2024-2025 FAFSA Now Available

The 2024-2025 FAFSA is now available! The 2024-2025 FAFSA includes a suite of new updates to improve the FAFSA filing experience for students. Due to these new changes, there may be periods of time where the FAFSA is unavailable. You do not need to contact SFS to report site issues with completing the FAFSA – you can try to complete your FAFSA at a later time.

If you wish to receive Federal financial aid for the 2024-2025 academic year you will need to complete the 2024-2025 FAFSA.


BU Virtual Housing Fair

Searching for housing? Sign up to participate in the Virtual Housing Fair on Tuesday, February 6 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m! This is your opportunity to talk with properties and realtors virtually to ask about available apartments for next year!


Boost your financial health on your own time with Kindros

SFS is excited to announce Kindros, the online financial knowledge center developed for BUMC students. This interactive platform covers everything from budgeting to retirement and includes readings, quizzes, planning tools, and additional resources. Check it out at https://bumc.kindros.com/ 


Scholarship Opportunities 

Our Scholarship page includes BU and BUMC specific scholarships, school-specific scholarships, various service-based scholarships such as the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) and Military Health Professions Scholarship Programs, and scholarship search sites.

We’re here to help! With LiveChat you can get one-on-one assistance with your medical campus financial aid and housing resource questions without needing to call or visit our office.

To speak with an SFS staff member, simply tell BUzz that you want to “Speak with a Representative” in the bottom right corner of our website during LiveChat hours. LiveChat is currently available on the following days and times:

  • Wednesdays – 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM EST
  • Thursdays – 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM EST

We have Zoom virtual office hours available to all BUMC students throughout the week. Stop by Student Financial Services in suite B-401 in the Robinson Building where you can meet with an SFS staff member in-person Monday through Friday.  You can also reach us by phone at 617-358-6550.


Spring Living Expense Refunds

Financial aid will first be applied toward the balance on your student account. Any excess funds will be left as a credit for you to request a refund by following these instructions .

*Please note, SFS is unable to process refund requests before your first day of spring classes.

**Medical students in the MSR – spring semester rent charges will reduce available refund amount

SFS Presents: Investing with Kindros Founder Stephen Martiros

Stephen Martiros, founder of Kindros.com, is a wealth management expert with more than 30 years of industry experience. Since 2010 he has worked as an independent analyst, strategist, and trustee for family offices and family foundations.

Stephen will visit BUMC on Tuesday, February 20, 5:30-6:30 PM in INS110, to discuss the benefits of the Kindros online platform as well as investing tips and resources based on his decades of experience. Food provided. Learn more on our Events page!

AccessLex Financial Education Resources

AccessLex is a non-profit that offers free financial education resources to help students and recent grads manage their finances and loan repayment. Their webinar, The Road to Zero: A Strategic Approach to Student Loan Repayment, provides all the info needed to feel confident about loan repayment. You can also set up free 1:1 meetings with their Accredited Financial Counselors to discuss your specific financial situation and goals.

AAMC First Tools & Webinars for Medical Students

AAMC offers events created specifically to provide medical students with financial resources for your time during and after medical school.

This month’s webinar, Learn About Our Resident Section of the “Guide to Money Management and Student Loans”, will review AAMC’s Student Loan guide and how to succeed financially while in residency. The webinar is at 2 PM EST on January 26. Register for the webinar here.
