‘Tis the season to mingle! Last Thursday (December 2nd), GMS and the C3 (Community Catalyst Center)  hosted an end of semester celebration gathering faculty, staff and students for some safe holiday cheer. The celebration highlighted the growing GMS community after a year of necessary separation due to the pandemic. It provided an opportunity for students to meet their faculty and staff in person and make new connections. With games, raffles, wine and appetizers, the event was a joyous occasion for all. Add in a jazz pianist, Charles Vadala, and the stage was set for success!

The Hiebert Lounge provided ample space for safe mingling and conversation, while providing a breathtaking view of the city lights as the sun went down. This event was a culmination not only of academic success and a milestone of a semester’s end, but a beacon of hope for a community tasked with the duty of consistent perseverance, vigilance, flexibility and overcoming adversity that the pandemic brought to us all. GMS and C3 are committed to finding safe and meaningful ways to connect faculty, staff and students across all programs  and provide an environment that’s conducive not only to physical safety, but emotional safety and community building as well.

As this semester winds down with finals, papers and exams, this event was a welcomed moment of togetherness, solace, and community. Thank you to Catering On the Charles for amazing appetizers, to the C3 team (specifically Christina Bowley) for organizing the event, and to all who gathered safely and continue to make safe choices. We hope to see everyone gathered together again safely in the near future.

Happy holidays and best of finishing the semester!
