BUMC Self-Care Market: A Smash Hit On Campus!
Everyone knows that the week before finals is a stressful time of year. But, thanks to the first-ever BUMC Self Care Market on Wednesday, December 9th, students were able to fight off the final exam blues with a variety of mood-boosting goodies.
A generous grant from the Wellbeing Project allowed the four BUMC Student Affairs offices to execute this event and supply all the self-care treats necessary to keep spirits high ahead of final exams and the holiday break.
The event proved to be a huge success, with about 100 students attending to grab their goodies — all spaced out with appointment times over a 2-hour period, remaining safe and socially distanced.
Some of the goodies on deck were holiday cookies, lavender packets, cozy socks, candy canes, stress balls, and eye masks. BU Sustainability even donated reusable bags that students used to “shop” through the market.
We’re so pleased with how this event turned out, and are looking towards holding similar events in the future. Until then, be sure to check out Student Health Services’ Resources for Health & Wellness and the meditation app Headspace (free to BU students!) to help you practice self care and relieve anxiety ahead of exams.
