Bone Marrow Drive Wednesday 11/30

On Wednesday, November 30th, there will be a drive encouraging the South Asian population to join the bone marrow registry through a simple cheek swap. Registration is free and painless.

It will be held at BU Charles River Campus, 12pm to 3pm at the GSU Alley, basement of the George Sherman Union. Currently, the chances of someone from South Asian descent of finding a match are only 1 in 20,000. Help us better these odds!”

“Be the Match is an organization that provides bone marrow transplants from volunteer unrelated donors to patients with leukemia, aplastic anemia and other potentially fatal illness. Though the national bone marrow registry has 9.5 million records on file, 74% of those registered are Caucasian, making it difficult to match other demographic populations.
