Radiology Selective
The Radiology Selective provides students with a foundational understanding of radiological imaging and intervention, preparing them to effectively utilize imaging modalities in their future medical careers. Through a combination of lectures, independent study, and hands-on experiences, including virtual PACS, simulation sessions, and observation in reading rooms, students learn to acquire and interpret common imaging studies such as X-rays, CT scans, MRI, and ultrasound. The curriculum emphasizes integrating clinical history with imaging findings to develop differential diagnoses and guide patient management, while also familiarizing students with the American College of Radiology Appropriateness Criteria for selecting appropriate imaging tests. Exposure to both inpatient and outpatient settings, multidisciplinary conferences, and radiologists’ consultative roles highlights the critical impact of radiology on patient care. Additionally, the clerkship supports students considering Radiology as a career, underscoring the field’s dynamic advancements in technology and therapeutics.
