Surgery Clerkship

The Surgery Clerkship provides students with comprehensive clinical exposure to common surgical conditions encountered in academic and community hospital settings, including inpatient wards, operating rooms, and outpatient clinics. The curriculum integrates interactive didactic sessions to enhance students’ knowledge of surgical diseases, supplemented by hands-on instruction in surgical techniques such as instrument handling, suturing, and knot tying. Students actively participate in patient care under supervision, fostering the development of clinical skills and the ability to function effectively within multidisciplinary teams. The clerkship emphasizes refining physical examination skills specific to surgical patients and cultivating concise case presentation abilities. Throughout the clerkship, students are encouraged to apply their acquired knowledge to develop and implement treatment plans for patients under their care.
