The Alumni Medical Library is located in the Boston University Medical Campus Instructional (L) Building and serves the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and Graduate Medical Sciences, Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, and School of Public Health.
Library holdings include extensive electronic collections comprising 3,300+ current e-journals, 6,800+ e-books, the BU Libraries’ 700+ databases, and 30+ quality-filtered subject guides. Print holdings include more than 21,000 monographs and 29,000+ volumes of bound print journals. Additionally, library users have access to the University Libraries’ collections of more than 2.4 million physical volumes, 4.6 million microform units, more than 45,000 current unique serials titles, and 77,000 media titles located at the Mugar (main University), Science & Engineering, and other BU libraries.
Electronic full-text journal collections include Elsevier ScienceDirect, Wiley InterScience, Springer and Nature Publishing packages. E-books include McGraw-Hill AccessMedicine, STAT!Ref, Springer Medicine and Biomedical & Life Sciences collections. Databases include MEDLINE, Web of Science, Embase, PsycINFO, and ERIC.
The Library is located on L12 and L13. L12 includes the service desk, print book collection, and student study space with public computers, printers and scanners. The L13 Quiet Study floor provides expanded student study seats, including reservable group and individual study rooms.
The dual-purpose L1101 Testing Center is a 220-seat testing center and study space, and also houses BUMC-IT Computing Services, including the Library Computing Help Desk and Student Laptop Support Services. The Library Computing Help Desk supports courses requiring technology integration and provides student laptop software installation, VPN client configuration, Windows and Mac updates, virus-scanning software updates, and removal of viruses and spyware.
Materials not owned by the Alumni Medical Library may be obtained through the Interlibrary Loan Service network, which links Boston University to the National Library of Medicine and to academic and medical libraries around the country. The library also participates in a cooperative agreement with 20 local university and medical center libraries as part of the Boston Library Consortium (BLC). Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine students and faculty also have access to Harvard University’s Countway Library of Medicine.
