GSDM Blood Drive 8/29

Every two seconds, someone, somewhere in the United States needs a blood transfusion. Help save a life by donating blood at the GSDM Blood Drive, sponsored by the American Student Dental Association.  Your blood donation could help an accident victim, someone receiving an organ transplant or a cancer patient battling their disease. In fact, each blood donation has the potential to save three lives!

Join your fellow classmates, and help patients in from Boston Medical Center and Boston Children’s Hospital on Thursday, August 29th from 11am to 5pm, in front of the Newton Pavilion.

If you are at least 18 years of age, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and are in good general health, you may be eligible to donate blood, however there are some restrictions on who is eligible to donate. Please read the attached document carefully before scheduling a donation appointment. All donors need to present positive identification.

If you are eligible to donate blood and would like to, please log onto halfpints.childrenshospital.org and use the code BUDENTAL to schedule your appointment.

It is important that you prepare for your blood donation by eating a balanced and nutritious meal and drinking extra (non-caffeinated) beverages before your appointment. Students are also encouraged to eat iron-rich foods like red meat, green vegetables and peanut butter in the days and weeks before their donation.

If you have any questions, please contact Erica in GSDM Student Affairs, emanczuk@bu.edu, 617-638-4790.
