Practicum For BU MHCBM Students

The Master of Mental Health Counseling practicum program offers a valuable, hands-on learning experience during the Spring or Summer semester. Designed exclusively for students enrolled in Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine Mental Health Counseling & Behavioral Medicine Program, this practicum provides a unique opportunity to train alongside experienced clinicians and gain practical experience working with a diverse patient population.

Practicum opportunities are offered in a number of clinics during both the Spring and Summer semesters (unless otherwise noted), including:

Adult Outpatient Psychiatry (This practicum position is only available during the Summer semester and continues into a Fall-Spring internship.)
Boston Center for Refugee Health and Human Rights (BCRHHR) (This practicum position is only available during the Summer semester and continues into a Fall-Spring internship.)
Brockton Behavioral Health Center, Inpatient Psychiatric Service (This position is not on the main BMC campus and requires travel to Brockton, MA)
Child/Adolescent Outpatient Psychiatry (This practicum position is only available during the Summer semester and continues into a Fall-Spring internship.)
Community Behavioral Health Center (CBHC) Clinic
Psychiatry Emergency Services

The deadline to complete applications is October 28, 2026 for Spring practicums and November 15, 2026 for Summer practicums. Final decisions will be made by November 30, 2026 for Spring practicums and December 31, 2026 for Summer practicums.
