The Master of Mental Health Counseling practicum program offers a valuable, hands-on learning experience during the Spring or Summer semester. Designed exclusively for students enrolled in Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine Mental Health Counseling & Behavioral Medicine Program, this practicum provides a unique opportunity to train alongside experienced clinicians and gain practical experience working with a diverse patient population.
Practicum opportunities are offered in a number of clinics during both the Spring and Summer semesters (unless otherwise noted), including:
Child/Adolescent Outpatient Psychiatry (This practicum position is only available during the Summer semester and continues into a Fall-Spring internship.)
Applicants’ cover letters should demonstrate an understanding of the program’s focus and express their specific interest in the program’s population and level of care.

Applications for the 2026-2027 academic year will be available here on October 13, 2025 for Spring practicums and November 10, 2025 for Summer practicums. The deadline to complete applications is October 19, 2025 for Spring practicums and November 16, 2025 for summer practicums. Final decisions will be made by November 28, 2025 for Spring practicums and December 31, 2025 for Summer practicums.
