Physician and scientist Drew Weissman, who earned both an MD and a PhD at Boston University, and his research collaborator, Katalin Karikó, have won the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
He looks forward to working and connecting with students, staff, faculty, and alumni.
Updates will be needed for department, faculty and lab websites, University Bulletin, course descriptions, signage, CVs, publication submissions, etc.
Fournier will continue to be part of the BUMC community as an emeritus clinical associate professor of medical sciences & education.
BUMC Facilities would like to conserve energy over Intersession in non-occupied spaces.
The assistant professor of family medicine succeeds Richard Babayan, MD, professor and chairman emeritus of urology.
Assistant deans will aid the Associate Dean for D&I to support the needs of specific demographics within our community, i.e., racial/ethnic, gender, abilities, sexualities, nationality, socio-economic status, first-generation, etc.
The professor of neuroscience and pharmacological sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York will join BUSM on Dec. 1.
He will serve as chair of BUSM’s Department of Medicine and physician-in-chief at the hospital.
