The AΩA Executive Committee invites all MD students, faculty and staff to the 2026 AΩA Visiting Professorship with Dr. Suzanne Koven, the inaugural Writer-in-Residence at Mass General Brigham. Dr. Koven is a physician-writer whose work explores the intersection of medicine, literature, and the lived experience of illness and care. In addition to her clinical and academic roles, she is widely recognized for her essays and teaching in narrative medicine, which examine how storytelling can deepen clinical insight, strengthen human connection and shape the formation of physicians. Her visit will offer an opportunity to reflect on the role of narrative in medicine and the ways writing can illuminate the ethical, emotional and human dimensions of clinical practice.
