Timelines and Information for the Class of 2027 Residency Application Process

Students will begin the majority of the work for residency application in the third & fourth years.

September, 2025:

• September 19, 2025, Third Year Career Fair – meet the Program Directors

October, 2025:

• October 7, 2025, Third Year Class Meeting on the Fourth Year Schedule
• Late October 2025, MSPE Deans assigned

November, 2025:

• November 19, 2025, Third Year Class Meeting: A Look Ahead and Planning for the Fourth Year, & Meet with Fourth Year Students

December, 2025:

• December 2025, Class of 2027 ERAS token passwords sent out to access partially open ERAS application program

January, 2026:

• January 12, 2026, Third Year Class Meeting on Residency Application, & Breakout Sessions with Program Directors

 March, 2026

• March 23, 2026, Biosketches & CV submissions due

April 6-April 10, 2026, Fourth Year Transition

May, 2026: start Personal Statement drafts

June, 2026:

• June 4, 2026, the 2027 ERAS application program opens
• June 4, 2026, the 2027 Residency CAS for Obstetrics/Gynecology and Emergency Medicine application programs open.
• Late June 2026, the 2027 AUA Urology Registration opens

 July 2026:

• Early July 2026, the 2027 SF Match Ophthalmology registration and application programs open
• Early July 2026, the 2027 CaRMS registration opens (Canadian Resident Matching Service)
• July 2026, TBD,Personal Statement Workshop
• July 2026 TBD, ERAS and ResidencyCAS Application Workshop

August 2026:

• August 2026, TBD, second Personal Statement Workshop
• Last week of August – transcripts will be uploaded to the SFMatch

September, 2026:

• Early September 2026: SF Match Ophthalmology applications are released to programs
• September 2, 2026: ERAS Residency applicants may begin submitting ERAS applications to programs
• September 2, 2026: ResidencyCAS Obstetrics/Gynecology applicants may begin submitting ResidencyCAS applications to programs.
• Mid-September, 2026, CaRMS (Canadian Match) application program opens.
• September 15, 2026, NRMP registration opens
• September 21, 2026, deadline for transcripts and MSPEs to be uploaded to ERAS and ResidencyCAS; MSPEs are uploaded to SF Match.
• Wednesday, September 23, 2026, MSPEs are released by all application programs to the residency programs.
• Wednesday, September 23, 2026, ERAS & ResidencyCAS applications are released to the programs.
• September 24, 2026, deadline to submit ResidencyCAS applications (applications submitted later than Sept. 17^th will still be sent out; programs will decide whether to review)

 Mid October, 2026:

• October 1, 2026, ResidencyCAS programs can access applications
• Residency Interview Workshop, TBA

December, 2026:

• Mid December, 2026, Military Match results released
• Late December, 2026, AUA Urology preference list deadline

January, 2027

• January 2027, NRMP Rank List Workshop, TBA
• January 2027, SF Match Ophthalmology Rank Lisk Deadline
• January 2027, CaRMS Ranking Period Opens
• January 2027, SF Match Ophthalmology Match Results released
• January 2027, NRMP standard registration closes (late registration still available)

February, 2027:

• February 2027, AUA Urology Match results released
• February 2027, NRMP Rank List opens for submission
• February 2027, deadline to submit rank list to CaRMS

Late Winter-Mid Spring:  GQ Workshops, TBA

March, 2027:

• March 2027, CaRMS Match results posted to CaRMS online.
• March 2027, NRMP deadline to submit Rank Lists
