Focus Areas and Opportunities
BMC’s Internal Medicine Residency is proud to offer individualized pathways in the following:
Urban Health/Health Equity, Medical Education, HIV, Global Health, and Patient Safety and Quality
Through an application process, Primary Care residents may participate in a pathway. Of note, our Primary Care Training Program is at heart an Urban Health program, therefore all of our Primary Care residents receive robust training in the care of urban underserved populations. For residents who wish to have a further concentration in Health Equity, the pathway is an option.
The program supports residents completing away electives that enhance their preparation for primary care careers. Recent away electives that our residents experienced include the Cape Cod Primary Care Elective, the ACP policy elective, international rotations (recent rotations in Liberia, Chiapas, Haiti, and the Thai-Burma Border) and the Indian Health Service.
