ACCESS

Advancing Cultural Competency & Equity in Surgical Specialties (ACCESS) is a group that extends our welcoming environment in the Department of Surgery. ACCESS is dedicated to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion through pillars of social support, advocacy and engagement, and research. It is a collaborative group that comprises trainees, fellows, APPs, and faculty, who meet regularly and host social events.

The Boston Medical Center (BMC)/Boston University (BU) Department of Surgery is committed to being more reflective of the community we serve. We recognize and value individuals from all backgrounds, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, age, country of origin, or immigration status. Supporting members of our BMC/BU surgical community from diverse backgrounds is an active, ongoing process, and ACCESS is another way in which the Department of Surgery is always evolving.
