Area of Interest: Evaluated the role of social determinants of health, racial segregation, and racism on urban firearm injuries and other violent crimes.

Dr. Poulson was appointed clinical instructor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and affiliate faculty at the Boston University Center for Antiracist Research. He completed a Masters of Public Health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and a primary care research fellowship through the Department of Medicine at Boston University. He was appointed as resident liaison to the Legislative Committee of the American College of Surgeons and resident member of the Committee on Legislation through the Massachusetts Medical Society. He has published 14 manuscripts, 8 of which were first author publications, in journals such as Annals of Surgery, Journal of the National Medical Association, Annals of Thoracic Surgery, and Annals of Surgical Oncology. He published an op-ed in the Boston Globe and has been interviewed for pieces in The Philadelphia Inquirer, Sirius XM radio, and Health City based on his published research. He continued as Research Chair for Socially Responsible Surgery and was appointed Chief Learning Officer through Race to Better Health where he works with Apple, Atrius Health, and other large firms to understand and address racial bias in their care and algorithms.
