Welcome New Librarians!

Alumni Medical Library has recently welcomed three new librarians to our team. 

Young Joo Moon, MA, MS, is the Associate Director of Library Collections and User Services at Alumni Medical Library at Boston University. He received his BA and MA in Library & Information Science from Yonsei University in South Korea, MS in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and MS in Administrative Studies from Boston College. Prior to joining BU, Young spent twelve years at Boston College, where he held the positions of Head Librarian, Continuing and Electronic Resources and Head Librarian, Resource Acquisition and Management. In his current position, Young ensures that the Library’s collections, discovery tools and related services support and advance the teaching, learning, research, and clinical scholarship needs of the medical campus communities. He oversees acquisitions, collections, and access services of the Library as well as resource sharing and facilities. He also provides fiscal oversight of the Library’s collections budget. 

Vedana Vaidhyanathan, MSLS, is the Research and Education Librarian. Vedana received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations, Cum Laude, from Florida International University and an MS in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, specializing in bioinformatics. She began her career as a bioinformatics fellow at UNC. Vedana has held positions at Baylor University, the University of Miami, University of Chicago, SUNY Downstate Medical School and Harlem Children’s Zone. She is a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honors Society and a previous Academic and Research Library (ARL) Academy Fellow. She has held various professional appointments including Vice-President of the India-US Transplant Foundation, methodologies editor for the Journal of the Medical Library Association (JMLA) and editorial board member for the Journal of Consumer Health on the Internet. In her current position, Vedana liaises with researchers and basic and clinical science students, conducts and teaches about systematic reviews, and supports the information needs of the medical campus. 

Kristen Sheridan, MSLIS, is a new member of the education team serving as an Education and Information Services Librarian and liaison to the School of Public Health. Kristen graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Public Health, and from Simmons University with a Master’s in Library and Information Science. Kristen is an active member of the American Library Association and Medical Library Association. Kristen has a background in reference and adult services in the public library setting, and is interested in library outreach and programming, education, and technology. In her current position, Kristen provides reference and research instruction to students and faculty on the medical campus.
