Compliance Requirements for Registration

University Compliance Requirements are managed by the Office of the University Registrar, and all students must meet certain requirements to maintain their eligibility for registration each semester.

As a student with access to clinical spaces, it is your responsibility to maintain compliance throughout the year. The school will enforce compliance at designated times, including but not limited to the start of each semester and during semester registration.

To check your compliance status, log into MyBU Student. Under the Tasks section, any pending activities required for compliance will be listed. If compliance requirements are not met, a Hold may be placed on your account, preventing future registration.

Key Compliance Requirements:

  1. BU Alert Phone Number: All students studying on Massachusetts campuses must provide a phone number for emergency alerts. View and update your BU Alert phone number in MyBU Student via the Contact Info page.
  2. Local Address: In order to comply with the safety regulations of the City of Boston, Boston University requires students studying on Massachusetts campuses to provide a current (local) address. Your current address is defined as the address in which you reside while taking classes at Boston University. View and update your current address in MyBU Student on the Contact Info page.
  3. Settle Financial Obligation: Boston University requires all students to settle their financial obligation each semester. If you have any outstanding financial obligations to the University, Boston University will withhold all credits, educational services, and certifications of academic records from anyone whose financial obligations to the University (including Student Accounts, Loans, deferred payments and/or liability for damages) are due and/or unpaid.
  4. Immunization: Massachusetts law requires that all full-time and many part-time students be immunized against a number of diseases in order to attend a university in the Commonwealth.
  5. Sexual Misconduct Prevention Training: Boston University requires that all students complete the Sexual Misconduct Prevention training.
  6. Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Law Acknowledgment: The Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Law requires that all out-of-state students sign an acknowledgment that they have been informed of the law (compliance is required in the fall semester only).
