CME Receives Accreditation with Commendation

The Barry M. Manuel Continuing Medical Education Office at the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine has been awarded Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education with Commendation by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

This status supports interprofessional continuing education by the team, for the team and allows for simultaneous accreditation of continuing education activities for multiple professions including physicians, nursing professionals, pharmacists, behavioral health specialists, physician assistants, dentists, and others.

The CME office achieved commendation status by satisfying higher level criteria which included successes in educational research and scholarship; impacting patient level outcomes; addressing factors beyond clinical care (e.g., social determinants); addressing population health issues; and improving health-care quality through interprofessional continuing education. The CME Office is nationally recognized for its long history of supporting team-based, interprofessional education in concert with Boston Medical Center, our affiliated Community Health Centers and additional health-care systems.
