Medicine at Boston University

Boston University is among the top schools for NIH funding, and there are plenty of opportunities for students to become involved in bench, clinical, epidemiologic, or health services research.

“The National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEIDL), built and operated by Boston University and Boston Medical Center, will be one of only four non-governmental Biosafety level 4 laboratories in North America. Designed to anticipate the research needs of investigators over the next 20 years, the lab may provide an opportunity for students to engage in cutting-edge research into diagnostic tests, treatments and vaccines for emerging infections.”

Mark S. Klempner, M.D.

Associate Provost for Research

Boston University Medical Campus

Director, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories

Student Comment:

“I want to work in an academic institution when my training is complete. BU’s interest and easy access to research really made it simple for me to get involved.”
