Diversity Statement

Department of Virology, Immunology & Microbiology Diversity and Inclusion Statement

The Department of Microbiology is committed to the recruitment and cultivation of an academic community that reflects the diversity found within society and promotes a culture of inclusivity in academic biomedical research and education. We believe that the inclusion of faculty, staff and trainees with different life experiences enhances our scholarship and promotes an environment that supports the development of the next generation of scientists and scholars. We aspire to create an environment that promotes equitable opportunities for all – one that is supportive, respectful and accepting of individuals regardless of ethnic, racial, and national origins, gender, sexuality, abilities and religious beliefs. We are actively working to break down barriers to inclusion in research, education, and training, and building on our history of diversity and inclusivity in our recruitment. We continue the long tradition the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine has in supporting diversity and inclusion in health care, education and research.
