Background Information Resources are a great place to start the EBD process. They provide broad overviews of medical topics, which help increase your understanding of the topics and acquaint you with the related evidence-based literature.

Evidence-Based Topic Overviews

Evidence-Based Topic Oveviews broadly summarize the available evidence-based literature on topics without specifically focusing on a particular clinical question. 

  • The American Dental Association’s Evidence-Based Dentistry section offers an overview of EBD, a glossary, and a collection of systematic reviews of dental research.

Evidence-Based Practice Guidelines and Consensus Statements

Evidence-Based Practice Guidelines and Consensus Statements are carefully considered treatment guidelines, often published and updated by government or professional associations, that represent the preferred or gold standard treatment strategies for common diseases.
