BMC Featured on NPR for Social Determinants of Health Training

Dr. Thea James, Associate Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Mission, Dr. Jeff Schneider, Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean for Graduate Medical Education, Dr. Travis Manasco, PGY-4, and Dr. Haley Thun, PGY-2, have been featured on National Public Radio for their roles in developing a curriculum for new interns and fellows on the social determinants of health!

The Boston Medical Center Emergency Medicine Residency is a national leader in public health programs and educational initiatives that raise the quality of care for underserved and vulnerable patient populations.

Also involved in this initiative were Chelsea McGuire, Elizabeth Doran, Leslie Halpern, Karan Verma, and the Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR) Social Determinants of Health Group.

BMC Opens New Clinical Simulation Center

We are pleased to announce that Boston Medical Center has opened a new state-of-the-art simulation center!

The Alan D. Solomont & Susan Lewis Solomont Clinical Simulation Center features cutting-edge facilities, supplies, and technology for resident, student, and nursing education. The simulation center is available for use by all hospital departments, but is managed by Emergency Department faculty under the leadership of Dr. Ron Medzon, Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Director for Medical Simulation.

Dr. Ron Medzon Named Director of Clinical Simulation Center

medzon_faceWe are very pleased to announce that Dr. Ron Medzon will become the Director of Boston Medical Center’s Clinical Simulation Center effective July 1st. Ron is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and a practicing clinician in our Emergency Department.

Ron is a graduate of McGill University and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine here at the Boston City Hospital/Boston Medical Center program. He has published over 25 peer-reviewed articles, case reports, and book chapters, including in the field of simulation, and has co-edited a textbook in Emergency Medicine. For the past 8 years he has focused on developing educational curricula using simulation in the Emergency Medicine Residency. More
