Applicants

Welcome, applicants! Thank you for visiting the home of the BMC Emergency Medicine Residency Program.

Before You Apply

We have an active minority recruitment office and prioritize diversity among residents, faculty, and staff. We also offer a Subsidized Visiting Elective Program for medical students from ethnicities that are underrepresented in medicine. Please email Shawnda Walker (Shawnda.Walker@bmc.org) for more information.

In addition, feel free to visit the Graduate Medical Education website and the Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR) website to learn more about the salaries and benefits for BMC residents. Interested Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine medical students should check out the Emergency Medicine Interest Group.

We encourage but do not require, applicants to participate in a fourth-year clerkship or ultrasound elective in our Emergency Department.

Match Logistics

BMC EM Residency participates in the NRMP match. Our match number is 1257110C0. Applications are submitted through ERAS. Our program ID number is 1102421084.

BMC honors the NRMP guidelines concerning application deadlines. Interview invitations are distributed in coordination with our peer programs in the CORD “County Program Community of Practice.” Interviews will be scheduled through Thalamus, and you may receive an invite at any time during the season.

For Applicants

We utilize a holistic application review and evaluate all elements of an applicant’s file including experiences, attributes, and professional aspirations. Our program values candidates who share our commitment to mission, growth mindset, resilience, and a team-based approach to clinical care. We recommend clinical experience in an emergency department, at least one SLOE but will accept will all applicants for review.
