Biography
Dr. Truong is an academic generalist in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Boston Medical Center, an Assistant Professor at Boston University School of Medicine, and Affiliate Faculty for the BU Center on Forced Displacement.
She earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and then completed her training in Obstetrics & Gynecology through the Brigham and Women's Hospital - Massachusetts General Hospital Combined Residency Program, where she served as DEI Chief Resident and Advocacy Committee Chair. She is a Physicians for Reproductive Health Fellow, completing the Leadership Training Academy program in 2026.
She provides care at the Refugee Women’s Health Clinic and NeighborHealth, a Federally Qualified Health Center in East Boston. She is an Approved Bilingual Provider/Qualified Bilingual Staff for Spanish.
Her research and clinical work in global health equity centers on respectful maternity care, refugee and (im)migrant health, and reproductive justice/family planning access. She currently leads research and asylum medicine initiatives out of the Refugee Women's Health Clinic, studying birth outcomes and abortion navigation for newcomer populations. As a member of Physicians for Human Rights, she performs asylum evaluations for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence and mentors the medical student Refugee Wellness group's Medical Affidavits Program.
Through the Doris Duke International Clinical Research Fellowship, she has been collaborating with Partners In Health since 2018 with a focus in Chiapas, México, where she has developed research and capacity-building initiatives with the Sexual and Reproductive Health team. She has additionally worked globally in Chile, Uganda, Rwanda, and at the US-Mexico border. She is deeply committed to serving marginalized populations.
