Biography

Dr. Mallika Sabharwal is an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and a practicing physician at Boston Medical Center. She earned her Medical Doctorate (MD) from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and her Master of Science (MS) from Boston University. Dr. Sabharwal completed her Family Medicine residency and Preventive Medicine fellowship at Boston Medical Center.

Dr. Sabharwal’s clinical practice focuses on comprehensive family medicine, with an emphasis on preventive care, health equity, and maternal health. Her research interests include improving patient safety and quality of care, as demonstrated by her grants addressing prenatal anemia and access to blood pressure monitoring for underserved patients. She has published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of School Health and American Family Physician and has presented at national conferences, including the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, on topics like narrative medicine and health disparities.

An engaged educator, Dr. Sabharwal teaches medical students in clinical presentation skills and mentors trainees through the Family Medicine Interest Group. She is actively involved in professional organizations, including the American Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Preventive Medicine, and Massachusetts Medical Society, where she has served as a delegate and resolution co-author. Her accolades include the Gold Humanism Honor Society induction and the American College of Preventive Medicine’s Jacob and Heather Adams Resident Scholarship.

Board-certified in Family Medicine and certified in Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics, Dr. Sabharwal is committed to advocacy, community health, and medical education.
