Lawrence R. Herz, MD

Biography

Dr. Herz is a general adult psychiatrist who has spent most of his career working with veterans. He has been the principal evaluations clinic psychiatrist and Chief of General Outpatient Mental Health at the Bedford VAH for 20 years. Recently, he became Acting Chief of Psychiatry. Dr. Herz is the director of the Bedford VAH MH Grand Rounds (a Boston Univeristy CME series).
After training in Psychiatry at the Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine (BUSM), Dr. Herz completed a fellowship in Clinical Geriatrics and Gerontology. He is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at BUSM, a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and a member of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry.
Dr. Herz’s other professional interests include research in antipsychotic therapy, geriatric psychiatry, psychiatric nosology, chronobiology, and sleep medicine.
