Andreea M. Bujor, MD, PhD

Associate Professor, Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine

Biography

I am an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Section of Rheumatology at Boston University School of Medicine, specializing in scleroderma translational research and in the care of patients with scleroderma.

My research focuses on the interplay between myeloid cells and fibroblasts in scleroderma-associated cardiac fibrosis. Our project investigating the role of the transcription factor Fli1 in myeloid cells has received funding from the NIH, American Heart Association, and Rheumatology Research Foundation. Additionally, we are exploring a method called spatial frequency domain imaging as a non-invasive tool for assessing skin fibrosis in scleroderma patients, a project supported by the Scleroderma Clinical Trials Consortium and National Scleroderma Foundation.

Beyond research, I am deeply committed to mentoring and education. As the Associate Program Director for the Rheumatology Fellowship, I have mentored trainees at all levels, and received an Outstanding Mentor Award from UROP. I regularly lecture on scleroderma and rheumatology and lead board review sessions for fellows. In recognition of my contributions to clinical care and research, I was honored as one of Boston’s Top Doctors in 2024 and 2025.
