A member of the BUMC community since September 2020, Merrill completed her BA and MD degrees at Tufts University, a general surgery residency and research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and a fellowship in surgical oncology at The Ohio State University. She is an attending general surgeon at Boston Medical Center.

Her nominators say, “Dr. Merrill truly wants to see her mentees flourish. As a medical student, there are a rare few mentors who will not only take the time to mentor you but will actively challenge you to discover new and different things. Especially for a student so early in my medical career, having a mentor who sought out opportunities on my behalf was incredibly meaningful.

“Dr. Merrill possesses the unique combination of enthusiasm and generosity that makes her an outstanding mentor. I have worked with many faculty during my time here and Dr. Merrill is in a class of her own. Her passion in mentoring medical students and teaching is unmatched, and she has embodied the school and hospital’s core values by creating a warm, welcoming environment for students to thrive in.

“Dr. Merrill is inspirational!”

Congratulations!
