Kitt Shaffer, MD, PhD, Named November’s Distinguished Faculty of the Month

Dr. Shaffer joined our community in 2008. She received her BA in biology from Kansas State University, MD from Tufts University School of Medicine and PhD in anatomy from the University of Kansas. She then completed her internship in medicine and surgery at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, Wellesley, Massachusetts; residency in diagnostic radiology at what was then New England Medical Center (now Tufts Medical Center), Boston; and fellowship in thoracic radiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston.

Her nominators say Dr. Shaffer is “an excellent educator in multiple courses: PRISM, DRx and PISCES. She has been dedicated to students for decades.

“Her in-class, active learning, pass-the-pointer teaching strategy engages learners in the process of interpreting imaging, developing real-world skills critical to future practice.

“Dr. Shaffer’s creative utilization of website technology has allowed her to create numerous, high-quality learning modules that have educated multitudes of our healthcare professions students!

Dr. Shaffer is kind, considerate and humorous. She is outstanding!
