Jennifer Snyder-Cappione, PhD, Named August’s Distinguished Faculty of the Month

head and shoulders shot of white woman, shoulder length brown hair, smiling The Faculty Affairs Office is pleased to announce that Jennifer Snyder-Cappione, PhD, assistant professor of virology, immunology & microbiology, has been named Distinguished Faculty of the Month for August.

A member of our community since January 2011, Snyder-Cappione received her BS from Brandeis University and her PhD from the University of Rochester Medical Center. She is chair of the PiBS admissions committee, a member of the BU-BMC Cancer center and the Evans Center for Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research, and a mentor to many graduate students.

Her nominators say, “Dr. Snyder-Cappione is the biggest proponent of her students’ learning, developing as scientists, creating connections/collaborations, and attending various conferences or advanced science courses. She encourages domestic and international travel to work with collaborators or attend conferences to present oral presentations or posters.

“Dr. Snyder-Cappione is a special person who doesn’t get the recognition she often deserves. She always has an open door, whether it is about science or about life — she will be there for you, for me, and for whoever walks through that door.

“Dr. Snyder-Cappione is a rising star who has made learning about challenging material more digestible and interesting!”

Congratulations!
