Search for Assistant Dean for Medical Education

 
The Medical Education Office would like to announce a search for a new Assistant Dean for Clinical Integration

The Assistant Dean for Clinical Integration (ADCI), a 25% FTE position, will oversee the integration of foundational science with clinical content across the four-year BUSM curriculum. The ADCI will design and lead the 16 integrated curricular weeks, which will begin with the Class of 2026 with the goal of enabling students to make connections across systems, consolidate their learning and integrate foundational science concepts into clinical cases. They also will oversee the pre-clerkship course directors and clerkship directors to ensure adequate integration of foundational science, clinical science and the BUSM core throughout the curriculum. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Direct the 16 designated pre-clerkship case based integration weeks of curriculum beginning in AY 2022 
    • Develop, organize and implement the curricula
    • Teach students and recruit faculty to teach 
    • Develop and oversee student and program related outcomes 
    • Participate in educational quality improvement and address feedback 
    • Develop and implement assessments and meet with students who need assistance or coaching
    • Recruit and provide oversight to case writers and editors for integrated cases 
  • Integrate foundational science, clinical science and the BUSM core across four years
    • Oversee the pre-clerkship course directors to ensure clinical relevance of foundational science material and help identify relevant clinical cases and BUSM core topics
    • Work with clerkship and elective directors to ensure integrated content into years 3 and 4
      • Design and direct the Back to the Classroom Experience in fourth year
      • Work with core clerkship directors to ensure revisit of foundational science concepts during clerkship didactic days

Qualifications:

  • MD preferred
  • Experience with foundational science and clinical curriculum
  • Experience with case, question development and assessment
  • Five years of experience in medical education and familiarity with BUSM UME curriculum
  • Prior leadership in education preferred
