Biography
Dr. Lilani Perera is a distinguished gastroenterologist specializing in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and serving as the Director of the Crohn’s & Colitis Program at Boston Medical Center. She is also an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Boston University. Dr. Perera graduated with honors from the University of Colombo, completed her fellowships in gastroenterology at Medical College of Wisconsin and IBD immunology research fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center, NY. Her career includes significant roles at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Advocate Aurora Health, and Tufts Medical Center, where she developed comprehensive IBD programs. She is actively involved in national organizations like the American Gastroenterological Association and the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, focusing on patient education and gender equity. Dr. Perera has a robust research background with numerous publications and is dedicated to mentoring future healthcare professionals. Her leadership and contributions have been recognized through prestigious programs, establishing her as a leader in gastroenterology.
