David “Aaron” Freed Compassion & Excellence Award

2023 Nominations Are Now Closed

The David “Aaron” Freed Award has been awarded annually since 2019 and honors a non-faculty member who goes above and beyond their expected duties to pursue professional excellence and exemplary citizenship. It is given in memory of Aaron Freed, a longtime member of the departments IT support team who demonstrated daily a deep commitment to his work and his coworkers.

To Aaron Freed, working in IT didn’t just mean working with computers and solving technical problems. At his heart and soul, Aaron loved his work and the people he worked with. He was not only a valued resource of knowledge and support, but also a selfless friend on whom everyone could depend. Steadfastly dedicated to this community, Aaron regarded everyone he worked with as family and never hesitated to go above and beyond his normal duties to lend a hand (or an ear) whenever he could. The Aaron Freed Award was created in honor of Aaron’s legacy of compassion and excellence and aims to recognize a current non-faculty member of the DOM who shares these qualities.
