Biography

Jie Zhang, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and a Principal Investigator of Nephrology at Boston Medical Center. Dr. Zhang received her BS degree from Jilin University in China and her PhD degree from the University of South Florida. She joined the faculty of BU/BMC and established her independent research laboratory in 2023. Dr. Zhang’s laboratory employs a combination of classical renal physiology techniques such as micropuncture and microperfusion, as well as cutting-edge molecular biology technologies such as single-cell RNA sequencing and genetically engineered animal models to explore fundamental questions within the field of nephrology. Her research endeavors have been supported by prestigious fellowships and grants, including the American Heart Association Pre-Doctoral Fellowship, the American Society of Nephrology Ben J. Lipps Post-Doctoral Fellowship, the American Society of Nephrology Carl W. Gottschalk Research Scholar Grant, and NIH-NIDDK R01 Grant.
