Biography
Dr. Heckman is an attending physician and director of sleep medicine in the division of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine at Boston Medical Center and is an Assistant Professor at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr Heckman’s clinical and research interests include sleep disordered breathing with a special focus on complex sleep apnea and chronic respiratory failure. He is interested in customizing sleep apnea therapy for the individual patient including utilizing newer implantable devices. He desires to incorporate new methods of sleep analysis into clinical practice. He has expertise in medical education and was a sleep fellowship program director for 5 years prior to joining BMC.
