Biography

Dr. Gunasekaran received her medical degree with honors from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, India. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Fairview Hospital program where she served as Chief Resident. She completed a Clinical Nephrology Fellowship at Yale University. As a clinician-educator, her clinical work spans the spectrum of outpatient and inpatient kidney disease and she has a special interest in cardiorenal syndrome and the use of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) for volume assessment. She was instrumental in launching and running the point-of-care ultrasound curriculum for nephrology fellowship. In educational innovation, her work includes art gallery visits for medical trainees with focus on critical observation skills, clinical reasoning and trainee wellness.
