Seminar Series
Seminars are open to all faculty, BU/BMC administrative directors and senior directors. Seminars focus on leadership, education, research, quality improvement, wellness, diversity/inclusion and academic promotion. Seminars are offered from 12-1pm on different days of the week throughout the year for CME credit. DEIA Panel: Who can say they do ‘diversity work’ | October 6th, 2022

Facilitator(s): Emelia Benjamin & Angelique Harris
Come learn from a panel of faculty at BUMC about articulating how DEIA can be part of your narrative at BUMC. Panelists will discuss their commitment to DEIA, the type of DEIA work that “counts”, and how to decide what to include in your BU profiles and/or CV. Participants will be encouraged to share their thoughts in small breakout groups. Subsequent seminars will be scheduled to focus on writing your DEIA statements in BU Profiles.

Tutorials on Tweetorials | December 6th, 2022
Facilitators: Jean Liew & George Murphy
This session is led by Jean Liew, MD, MS, and George Murphy, Ph.D. Participants will understand how those in the academic health community are utilizing social media, specifically Twitter, and learn ways to promote yourself and your work via Tweetorials. Tweetorials are widely used as an innovative tool in academic health for education, research, and communication. Participants will have the opportunity to practice drafting their tweetorials.

How to start writing a grant| December 13th, 2022

This session is led by Elaine Lee, Ph.D., Jessica Fetterman, Ph.D., and Amy Perlack. The objective of this session is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the grant writing process by identifying pain points and strategies to overcome writing hurdles. Participants will gain firsthand knowledge of grant writing techniques from researchers who have been successful in obtaining funding from a variety of sources.
