Drs. Allison Larson and Christina Lam are named two new endowed leadership awards in the department
Dr. Allison Larson and Dr. Christina Lam are named two new endowed leadership awards in the department. Dr. Larson has been named the recipient of the inaugural Amal K. Kurban Endowed Faculty Award in Teaching and Dr. Lam has been named the inaugural recipient of the Amal K. Kurban Endowed Faculty Award in Clinical Leadership. These faculty members will hold the title of Endowed Faculty member throughout the tenure of these awards. For those of you who did not know Dr. Kurban, here is a bit of context:
Amal K. Kurban, MD was a beloved Professor of Dermatology at Boston University School of Medicine from 1985 until his death at the age of 83 in 2011. An acclaimed teacher and master clinician, Dr. Kurban gave tirelessly to his patients and trainees, hoping to impart outstanding clinical skills which they would carry with them throughout their lifetimes. He graduated from the American University of Beirut Medical School where he also completed his Medicine and Dermatology Residencies, had extensive training in Dermatology in the Middle East and Europe, and was a graduate of the Johns Hopkins Dermatology Program. He was the former Chairman of the Dermatology Department at the American University of Beirut and was the Founder and Director of the International Graduate Training Program in Dermatology at BUSM for over 2 decades. Given his outstanding leadership as a clinician and educator, we cannot think of a more suitable individual to honor with these named endowed awards.
CONGRATULATIONS, Dr. Larson and Dr. Lam!
