Dr. Margaret Lee Named February’s Distinguished Faculty of the Month

Head and shoulders of woman with shoulder length dark straight hair parted in middle, wearing mauve colored shirt, smilingThe Faculty Affairs Office is pleased to announce that Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics Margaret Lee, MD, PhD, has been named February’s Distinguished Faculty of the Month. 

Lee earned her MD from BU in 1999 and a PhD in pathology & laboratory medicine in 2005. She completed an internship in pediatrics at SUNY Downstate, followed by the BU-Tufts Combined Dermatology Residency Program and fellowship in pediatric dermatology and the Stuart & Jane Weitzman Family fellowship in vascular anomalies at Boston Children’s Hospital.

She returned to BU and Boston Medical Center as director of pediatric dermatology in 2016 after several years at Boston Children’s. Lee co-founded the Creative Arts Society and its literary journal, Whorl, as a first-year medical student and now serves as its co-faculty advisor. More recently, she founded the nonprofit Comfortable in Our Skin, a youth-oriented peer support and resource organization that promotes self-acceptance, diversity and a healthy identity within our skin and beyond.

Her nominators said, “Dr. Lee’s instructions encompass the significance of multiculturalism and diverse viewpoints. She is committed to teaching and the well-being of students. Dr. Lee shows outstanding leadership in leading research teams.

“Her instrumental role in organizing the annual “Kick Back Kafe” underscores her multifaceted contributions.”
