Office of Human Research Affairs (OHRA)
The Office of Human Research Affairs (OHRA) is responsible for the oversight of human research at Boston Medical Center and the three schools on the Boston University Medical Campus (Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, Public Health, and the Goldman School of Dental Medicine) to assure that we meet the ethical and regulatory expectations. OHRA accomplishes this through its robust Human Research Protection Program (HRPP).
The two main elements of the HRPP are:
- Institutional Review Board (IRB) which must review and approve all human studies, and
- Clinical Research Resources Office (CRRO) offers an array of investigator educational programs.
For any questions about OHRA please contact OHRA .
Human Subject Research Studies Partnership with SEMC
Our partnership with St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center (SEMC) has developed creative research collaborations. To assist in this growing research partnership, we have created a searchable online resource that lists more than 1,000 ongoing human subject research opportunities at BUMC and SEMC.
For information on requesting review by a Single IRB for SEMC/BUMC collaborative studies, please see examples of when to request use of a single IRB for research collaborations.
