Transgenic Core Facility Highlights!
The TgGE provides state-of-the-art transgenic and genome engineering services enabling the production of mouse models of human disease. We strive to be the local resource for developing, planning, executing and analyzing experiments involving genetically engineered mice. The Transgenic Core Facility is now located in the Center for Advance Biomedical Research (CABR) at 700 Albany St., Room 934.
We work closely with investigators to design and execute experiments based on their needs and provide fully customizable support to enable the successful completion of your experimental aims. Both John (at MIT and Harvard) and Kenn (at The Jackson Laboratory and BUSM) have many years of experience creating customized mouse models and are looking forward to helping you with your projects.
Services include:
- Creation of new mouse models via conventional approaches such as transgenics and genome engineering using homologous recombination in embryonic stem cells or cutting-edge genome editing techniques such as CRISPR/Cas9 and TALENs.
- Preservation of existing mouse lines by embryo and/or sperm cryopreservation.
- Rederivation of pathogen-infected mice into specific pathogen free (SPF) animals by embryo transfer or In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
- Direct importation of new mouse lines via frozen embryos or sperm and revival by embryo transfer or IVF.
- Assitance and advice on mouse genetics and husbandry (e.g., best practice breeding schemes).
- Consultation for new project and grant development, and providing letters of support.
